Ensure that your AI system actually complies with the requirements of the AI Act.
Determining whether the AI Act applies is the first step. Demonstrating that an AI system actually meets all requirements is the next—and often decisive—step. BG.legal’s AI Act compliance assessment is an in-depth, guided process that evaluates whether an AI system meets the specific obligations of the AI Act. In addition, we determine what your organization’s role is and whether you meet the obligations associated with that role.
It is an intensive process in the sense that it is comparable to a certification audit based on an ISO standard: structured, thorough, and fully documented. The difference is that BG.legal conducts this as a law firm, which means that the findings are legally substantiated and that, upon demonstrable compliance, we can issue a formal statement. This also means that we will review, assess, and document evidence.
With this compliance assessment, you can demonstrate that your organization or AI system actually complies with the AI Act.
Every project begins with an intake meeting. During this meeting, we work with you to define the scope: which AI system or application is involved, what is the risk category under the AI Act, what role does your organization play, and what is the intended outcome of the project? Based on that discussion, we prepare a customized proposal.
Once the proposal is approved, the actual assessment process begins. This involves a structured evaluation of your AI system, processes, and organization against the applicable requirements of the AI Act, such as requirements regarding risk management, data governance, technical documentation, transparency, human oversight, and conformity assessment.
The process results in a detailed compliance report for each requirement, including an assessment (compliant / partially compliant / non-compliant), concrete action items, and follow-up advice where necessary. Depending on the outcome, there are two possible next steps:
If further steps are needed, we will draw up a roadmap to full compliance, with a clear prioritization of the necessary measures and a timeline for implementation.
If the AI system and your organization demonstrably meet the relevant requirements, BG.legal can issue a statement that serves as a “seal of approval.” This statement, issued by a law firm, provides concrete value to clients, customers, and regulators.
The AI Act compliance assessment is suitable for organizations that wish to demonstrate their AI Act compliance, for example because clients or customers require it, because an internal compliance obligation requires it, or because a regulator may assess it.
It is also the recommended route for providers of high-risk AI systems that must undergo a conformity assessment before bringing their system to market.
Costs: customized quote; indicative range €5,000 – €20,000, depending on the scope and complexity of the system.
