Risks and opportunities from data

As of September 12, 2025, the Data Act will come into effect. This new law fundamentally changes the playing field for data ownership and access. If you supply medical products to customers, your legal position may change. And possibly your entire business model. It's time to act. Smart machines, vehicles, and devices generate valuable data. That data is worth gold. But after September 12, 2025, the question is: who does it belong to?

Data is at the core of innovation: patient data, sensor data, AI models—who owns the data? The Data Act requires providers of smart devices (IoT) and related digital services to grant users access to the data. Lawyer Jos van der Wijst, who works with our member BG Legal, will be our host on March 25, and he will gladly guide you through, with the help of a practical medical case, the risks and opportunities of this new European legislation.
